The Grayson Foundation is a private foundation that is devoted to enhancing the quality of life in Shreveport-Bossier. Twice a year, the Foundation accepts grant applications, however, organizations can only apply once every twelve months. Submissions are made through the Community Foundation's grant portal. The Foster Promise Program provides financial assistance to eligible students who enroll in a qualifying program at a two-year public college or university, or at an accredited private school licensed by the Board of Regents to obtain an associate's degree or a short-term post-secondary education credential required for certain high-demand, high-wage occupations aligned with Louisiana's employment priorities.
The program is named after former Louisiana governor Mike J. Foster. The Promise program is available to all eligible Louisiana residents (21 years or older), and individual student prizes are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will qualify for financial support to obtain credentials that fit high-demand jobs in growing industrial sectors, such as construction, healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, and transportation and logistics.
The Foster Promise Program will serve as the “ultimate prize”, meaning that all applicants will need to complete the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) to determine or prove their eligibility for other sources of federal aid. The Beaird Family Foundation is committed to improving the Shreveport and Bossier City region of Louisiana by helping organizations add opportunities, freedom of action and choice, self-improvement and a climate of change in the lives of the people they serve. Intermodal transportation services provide relevant organizations with intermodal equipment and rail services across the CSX rail network, and provide these organizations with the opportunity to reduce or eliminate their transportation costs. The Foundation's priority is to fund organizations or projects that take place in the Shreveport and Bossier City regions, but it can also fund requests from other locations, especially those that can be replicated in its geographical area if proven effective.
